Shannon Whitney Galloway was an accident, a fact his mother never hid from him - she would tell him that he was brought to her by the angels, despite the fact that she hadn't asked for him. She didn't know what she'd been missing, she told him. The youngest of three, Shannon soon took to being called "Shay", and terrorized his older brother and sister from the moment he could walk. It was clear at an early age that the boy had a penchant for trouble, and an over-active imagination to boot; whether he was screaming about zombie dinosaurs, or flinging rocks at the girls in the neighborhood when they got too close, he was the bratty child none of the adults could stomach.
Melissa and Greg rushed to the hospital during the wee morning hours on April 4th, and within 45 minutes, despite a double dose of Magnesium (a desperate attempt by Melissa's doctor to stop the pre-term labor), Shay graced the world with his presence. At nearly 9 1/2 weeks early, Shay was three pounds, three ounces, and 15 1/2 inches long. He was easily the smallest baby in the group. Although mostly healthy, he was kept in the NICU up until June 3rd - a week before his due date - to ensure his lungs could fully function on their own. Melissa had visited daily while Greg went to work, but she was never permitted to hold him as he remained in an incubator. Despite his laundry list of short comings, Melissa calls him her little angel, or her little miracle more often than not. She loves him unconditionally and is always there for him despite any stupid stunt he may pull. He is definitely close to her than his father (who left less than six weeks after Shay was born).
→ Shay is terrified of heights. To his friends and family members, this makes no sense as he is quite content flying, but panics when he is made to climb a ladder, tree, or anything er eight feet.
→ Has shitty luck when it comes to love and relationships: during his last years of highschool, he was catfished; in 2013, he fell in love with a much younger girl with whom he held a toxic, all-or-nothin sort of not quite relationship; in early 2014, he held two relationships - both short lived - before it was decided by all parties that they were better as friends; in the fall/winter of 2014 through early 2015, he was talking to a girl with an aversion to men due to a past trauma. Their scenario was a strange one, but for a time, it worked for them... However, when complications arose, they lost touch. He holds many, many regrets when it comes to women, and they haunt him regularly.
→ In the spring of 2015, following a letter he never expected to get, he left New York. Unable to fight the medley of emotions he was feeling, he thought it better to distance himself from the situation so he didn't make things harder for the girl, or himself.
→ In the fall of 2015, after several months of not feeling like himself (excessive thirst, headaches, tiredness, frequent urination, blurry vision, and weight loss despite an increase in his appetite), Shay was diagnosed as having Type 1 diabetes.
→ Shay graduated from Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences in 2014. While in California, he held multiple part time jobs that had nothing to do with his degree. When he grew homesick, he began applying for pharmacist positions in the Sleepy Hollow area. Luckily for him, Phelps Community Pharmacy was looking for a full-time Pharmacist, and after a handful of interviews, he was given the job. Within a week, he was moving his things into his sister's apartment until he could find a place to live.
→ Outside of near misses and short-lived unions, Shay has never truly been in a fully committed relationship. While there are times he wishes this weren't the case, he's a firm believer that love is messy and too much work. Despite this belief, he does find himself looking toward building a life with someone. He just hasn't found them yet.
→ In the spring of 2013, he became an uncle for the first time. Shay never knew how much he could love someone until his neice was placed in his arms. He visits his neice every chance he is able, but sometimes that doesn't happen as often as any of them would like. They've recently taken to skype and facebook video chats.
→ After Shay's father left, Melissa made every attempt to locate him. After two years, she resigned herself to the fact that Greg didn't want to be found, and legally changed the children's surname from Vaughn to Galloway in the Winter of 1990.
